Canungra

Canungra’s quite a hoot… because it’s known as the Valley of the Owls!

A popular tourism town, Canungra is located only 32km (or a forty minute drive) from the Gold Coat Hinterland and 90km south of Brisbane. So it makes the perfect location for when you want to escape from it all for a weekend… or maybe much longer!

Home to both the southern boobook owl and just over 1,200 friendly local citizens, Canungra’s most popular industries include accommodation, hospitals, dining and education. Accommodation is especially popular with a proud range of farmstays, cabin accommodation and bed and breakfasts.

Canungra is also home to an increasingly popular wine industry and equine facilities. Due to it’s central location, the town has become a well known service centre in the south-eastern region including locals, tourists and personnel from the close by Kokoda Barracks. In fact, Canungra was even famously referenced in the Redgum classic ‘I Was Only Nineteen’!

Treat yourself to some classic Canungra hospitality and you’ll never regret it. Whether that’s a chilled out break at a local café or a drink with mates at the iconic Canungra Hotel, it’s always a town where you’ll always feel welcome day or night.
